Building the Perfect Cheeseburger
At George’s Burgers, we have a variety of different options on our menu. The expansive menu does not, and should not, overshadow our “bread and butter” dish that this great establishment was built on. Cheeseburgers can be crafted in many different ways. Additions like bacon, fried toppings and customized spreads combine for explosive tastes. But let’s turn the clocks back and reflect on what makes the perfect traditional cheeseburger.
Obviously, we’ll start with the meat. The burger meat is, clearly, what drives the foundation of this beautiful sandwich. Using a tender, moist ground chuck cut from the shoulder will deliver the best results when crafting your perfect cheeseburger. But if you prefer a leaner option, try out ground turkey meat!
Some say the bread is the most important aspect of a sandwich. We believe that the bun will set the tone as it is the first thing that your teeth touch when biting into a delicious cheeseburger. This depends on preference, though, as some prefer a crispy bun and others prefer a softer bun. The question of sesame seeds or seedless then arises. There are also sweet flavored rolls as well as a more buttery roll, and some even love jalapeno peppers or onions baked into their bread! The moral is, get creative!
American, Swiss, provolone, mozzarella, cheddar, manchego, pepper jack – the list of cheeses is endless! A lot like the bun, this will be left up to preference. For a sharper taste, go with Swiss, cheddar or provolone. For a sweet taste, go with manchego cheese. For a classic taste, go with American. And for the spicy food lovers, add the pepper jack flare!
Lettuce, tomato and onion are the most common toppings on a cheeseburger. The old “LTO” combo gives the burger a refreshing crunch of flavor in every bite. Pickle slices add a nice tang and commonly make an appearance. Ketchup and mustard are optional, but these condiments are flavorful lubricants that will take your burger to the next level.
Okay, so we couldn’t resist suggesting extra toppings and veering away from the standard after all! This is where you can get creative and take it from “perfect traditional cheeseburger” to a customized pile of flavor. Additions such as bacon, relish, spicy mayo, fried onion straws, grilled pineapple, roasted peppers and seasoned spinach are bound to produce amazing results.
